Roland RSS M-400 V-Mixer
Roland’s answer to the small-footprint digital mixing console.

2008 saw the release of Roland’s digital mixing console, the M-400. A 48-channel mixing desk consisting of 40 inputs, 16 auxiliary outputs, 8 matrixes and 8 DCAs, not to mention built-in gates, compressors, effects and graphic EQs, gives you incredible functionality at the push of a button. Add in Roland’s Cat5e digital snake system - REAC - and you’ve got a ready-to-go system that doesn’t break the bank, or your back!

When we at SFL first got our hands on the Roland M-400, we didn’t want to like it. How wrong we were! Already having digital consoles in our repertoire, we were blown away by the functionality built into the M-400. Using a pair of Roland’s S1608 stage boxes, you get 32 mic inputs at the stage end, plus the console’s 8 inputs gives you 40 channels and that’s before you even add in the stereo input for your CD/MP3 player and the USB playback feature.

Digital snake

Using the console could not be easier. The top surface is equipped with a master fader and 24 channel faders. It also has buttons and dials that give you quick access to tweak the gain, EQ, effects, gates and compressors.

On top of all this great functionality there is the ability to save and recall memories - something that was never possible in the analogue mixing realm. Whether you want to save your favourite effects setting, patch bay setup, user preferences and privileges or the entire desk setup you can do this using the M-400’s built-in memory or onto a USB memory stick.
