Roots 2011
SFL get nostalgic as they see the curtain close on the last Roots Event in Southport Theatre

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
SFL were approached by Andy Barr from Production Company Pure Solutions to provide the video and audio technical provision for Roots 2011. SFL were both excited and sad about this event as it was the last one ever in it’s current format in Southport Theatre.
SFL have a long history with Roots and have been working on the event since 1996. Just for the sake of nostalgia here’s some pictures from 2001 – 2003.
Roots was back in the theatre this year so it was warm and dry! Mark Payne decided to use the new Kara line array speaker system for FOH. This consisted of 5x Kara Top’s with 2x SB18 subs per side. He also used a couple of Kara boxes for front fill. The benefit of using the line source system was that no delays were required, the PA threw right to the back with minimal level drop throughout the venue. The sound was all mixed on the Digi Design SC48 Console at FOH with a Yamaha M7 on monitors.
The video solution consisted of 2x Sony D55 camera channels, a Mac Media Server and various other computer and playback inputs all mixed on SFL’s For-A HVS-300 PPU. Projection was provided by 2x Barco CLM R10+ projectors with DVI fibre signal distribution.
The event was a great success and the team managed to find time to get one last group shot of SFL at Roots.
