Pentecost at The Apollo

SFL work with 3 of London's biggest churches on this
memorable event

SFL were delighted to be asked to provide the production solution for the recent Pentecost event at Hammersmith Apollo. It’s a fantastic venue with a capacity of 5000 people.

The event was organised by 3 London churches, Holy Trinity Brompton, Jesus House and Hillsong. It was hosted by Nicky Gumbel, Gary Clarke and Pastor Agu it included worship led by Tim Hughes, Reuben Morgan, Pete Wilson and the Jesus house choir Bringing 3 churches and musical styles together brought it’s own challenges. We had to integrate the HTB, Hillsong and Jesus House Worship Teams.

The Front of House sound was designed using a flown d&b Q1 line array with flown Q sub and ground stacked J sub. This was mixed from a digidesign Venue. This allowed the use of snapshots to quickly change between the bands. On stage monitoring was handled by 2 Yamaha M7CL’s. The system included 16 ways of Sennheiser G2 in ears, 10 ways of Shure UHF-R and Sennheiser Radio Microphones. SFL also used 10 d&b max wedges. SFL wanted to make the event and rehearsals run as smoothly as possible. They arranged off-site rehearsals for the bands the day before where they were able to test and sound check the bands with the monitor rig. This made sound check much quicker on the day.

For lighting SFL brought in Lighting Designer Sam Tamplin. Sam worked with the Hillsong Production Team to integrate the lighting and set components supplied by Hillsong. Lighting was controlled by a Jands Vista, and included 70 Martin and Claypacky moving heads.

SFL Supplied a 26’ fastfold screen projected onto by 2x Barco FLM R22’s. There were screens put in dressing rooms and creche/baby rooms. These were all controlled by a Barco Screenpro 2. The event was a great success!!
