Martin McCoal - Red Nose Day

SFL "Do something funny for money"
mmc-2-small

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Twice a year, Martin McColl put on a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony for their employees and clients. Once again Jim Martin Marketing Services came to SFL for help to create the theme of the event and provide a sound, lighting and video solution.

This event had a very exciting brief; the theme was Comic Relief. The sponsors of the event were Walkers and Malteasers. SFL worked with JMS to come up with a set concept which fitted the bill.

The main aspect of this event in terms of the look and feel of the room is the set and the lighting. The set had a very red feel to to it, with red panels, and red carpet. This was very striking when you walked in the room. There were numerous different blown up red noses hanging above the stage and on the lectern. Even the 8’ wide video screens were based around a red nose. One of the first things the guest would have noticed were the giant packets of crisps and malteasers.

SFL used d&b Q10 and Q sub to ensure that the whole room could hear the entertainment and announcements for the awards clearly; the sound was mixed on a Roland M380. A pianist and a famous comedian provided the entertainment.

The lighting consisted of Chroma banks, LED Par cans and profiles to light the room. Mac 250s were used to project moving more red noses across the roof of the venue. This enhanced the set and took it from being a static set at one end of the room to a look and feel that drew you in.
