Projection on Wokefield Park Hotel

SFL transform The Mansion House on Burns Night for De Vere Hotel Group at Wokefield Park

SFL were working for events production company ShowState to help them produce a stunning tartan projection onto The Mansion House at Wokefield Park Hotel in Reading. Wokefield Park hotel is part of The De Vere Group of hotels; it is a luxurious facility with a very traditional mansion house feel alongside the modern hotel feel. The De Vere were running a charity fundraising event on Burns night. The event therefore had a very strong Scottish theme to it. The brief was to project a tartan pattern across the 60m wide x 15m high Mansion House so that as guests arrived they were blown away by this strong and powerful image. The final image lit up the night sky!

SFL achieved this by using 4 Barco 10k DLP projectors set 50m away from the building underneath weatherproof covers. Rather than blending the images together AV Manager Craig Lawrence decided to do an edge butt, this maximised image brightness and intensity. Not blending meant that the projected images could be 4m smaller on the width and as the projected pattern was a still of tartan it was very easy to get the joins to disappear.
