SFL really value the working relationship they have with RCCG Church Jesus House. So when the production manager of the church approached SFL to provide the technical solution for the New Years Eve Watchnight service at Wembley Arena, SFL were more than happy to come on board. The Watchnight service is a worship and prayer event that starts at 8pm and finishes at 1am seeing the New Year in. SFL provided the sound, video & lighting solution for a congregation of 7500.
The audio system was a d&b Q line array which was complimented by d&b J sub. Sound system designer Mark Payne used 4 drops of Q to cover the pit area and the raked seating to the left and right, this system was able to deliver 110db in the venue with no more than a 6db level drop from the front seat, to the back seat, to the highest raked seat. Audio was mixed at FOH using a Yamaha M7; a Yamaha PM5D was used to control the 20 monitor mixes that were required for the large gospel band and choir of 60.
SFL utilised the Barco Screen Pro II to mix all the video feeds going to the 16’ x 9’ screens flown each side of the stage. The screens were rear projected onto using Barco 10K DLP projectors. Various plasma displays were used for stage comfort monitors and front fill.
Due to the tight set up time SFL needed to come up with a set solution that was quick to put up but had maximum impact. Lighting Designer Sam Tamplin used 12 Colour punch lights to uplight a 60’ wide white cyc and 12 chroma banks to down light the drape. This use of light enabled him to colour mix and produce a vivid burst of light as a backdrop to the stage. This colour was complimented by Studio Due CS-4 lights to add streaks of white light.
