Global Day of Prayer 2008

SFL worked with Pure Solutions to Create an Impacting Event at Millwall Stadium gdop02mini

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

On Sunday the 11th May SFL occupied Millwall Stadium working for the production company Pure Solutions www.pure-solutions.co.uk. The event was Global Day of Prayer where thousands of people met to pray and worship. It is actually a world wide event with hundreds of thousands of people involved in the day but in their own locations. SFL provided the complete technical solution of sound, lighting and video.

SFL needed to provide a sound solution that would cover the stadium and provide coverage for the 30,000 people in the stadium. To achieve this d&b J series and Q series line array were used in strategic places to fill all areas with equal sound. The J series line array were hung from tepees on either side of the stage. The 96 channels of audio from stage were mixed at FOH on two cascaded Yamaha M7CLs. On stage there was a 20 piece orchestra and a full contemporary worship band. A Yamaha PM5D-RH was used on monitors and a separate monitor desk for the 500 strong choir.

SFL provided a 4 camera broadcast spec PPU to feed live video footage to two 30metre squared LED screens which were flown from ground support structures and to GodTV for world wide broadcasting. The camera feeds along with various different computer graphics and playback inputs were switched, mixed and overlaid using a Barco Screen Pro II.

As the event was in the middle of the day there was no point in putting in loads of moving head lights as they wouldn't be noticeable. Therefore SFL provided an even coverage wash using fresnels to ensure the camera images would look well lit. Coloured parcans were used to provide bits of colour wash on the stage and some backlight. There was white cyc as the backdrop which we lit with city colours and used profiles with break-up gobos in to add some texture to it.
