European G12 Conference

G12's European conference at Westminster Central Hall g121mini

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The G12 conference is an annual European conference for churches within the G12 movement.

SFL were asked by Kings Church International to provide a complete technical solution for the G12 conference held in central London at Westminster Central Hall a venue in prime location directly opposite the Houses of Parliament. This is quite a complex venue which presents many challenges, however owing to SFL's years of experience with this venue we were able to plan accordingly.

To transform the main room into the perfect venue for our client SFL flew a truss grid to form the base for our technical solution.

Four drops of d&b Q line array consisting of Q sub, Q1 and Q7, were used to provide even coverage for the 3 balconies, ensuring an even sound level throughout the venue. For the downstairs room SFL installed a sound system comprising of d&b C7 stacks with discreet and well placed d&b E3s, with d&b Max's as front fills. A Yamaha PM5D console was used as the FOH desk with a SoundCraft SM20 on monitors. For the event G12 brought together an impressive band consisting of 2 full sized drum kits, a percussion section and a full choir all on top of a standard worship band. The venue is well known for its reverberant acoustics so SFL had to ensure the sound level on the stage was kept to a minimum whilst maintaining the flexibility needed to cover the multiple band changes quickly. SFL's solution included both inear monitoring and well positioned d&b Max wedges.

The video solution consisted of a massive 16' x 12' video screen flown from the grid at the back of the stage, this was projected onto by one of SFL's brand new Barco CLMR10+ projectors. The projector was fed from a Barco ScreenPro II via DVI over a fibre optic system to ensure the highest possible quality reached the screen. The Screen Pro II was used to scale the various inputs from the 3 camera PPU to the graphics PC, the song words overlay and different types of playback.

The truss grid also provided a base from which to fly 36,000K of par cans, over 20 moving lights with 10 Source 4 profiles providing front light. The lights were run from the new Jands Vista desk, which offered extremely quick and versatile programming, a must for such tight plotting time.
