SFL try to blend in with Emmanuel Church, Loughborough

Emmanuel Church in Loughborough came to SFL to complete a video install that would fit in to their building in an unobtrusive way. Being a traditional Anglican church the Parochial Church Council had to gain approval from the diocesan board. To enable the diocesan board and the church members to get an accurate impression of what the install would look like, WYSIWYG renders were produced by SFL giving them an impression of the final install.

On to various pillars throughout the church there were seven 26" TFT monitors installed. These were coloured specifically down to the exact pantone colour of the church to ensure that they blended in as much as possible.

Also an 8 x 6 metre electrically retractable screen was installed above the nave. As it was retractable it meant that it wasn't noticeable unless it was being used. Not only did it retract but the whole screen mechanism was attached to a 4 point winch system which was allocated in the roof space. This enables the church vergers to press a button and 1 minute later the screen is 40ft in the air behind a supporting wall and very inconspicuous.

A highly specified Dell PC was installed as the hub of the system. It was preinstalled with easy worship software. A Christie LX55 LCD projector was flown from one of the pillars to project on the retractable screen. In general it was a highly successful install and met the needs of Emmanuel Church.
