Venue - Broad Street, Oxford
Date - Sunday 11th June

This year SFL were asked by St Aldates Church, Oxford to manage all production and provide technical provision for an event called Love Oxford. This event was organised by a number of churches in Oxford. Its aim was to gather together thousands of worshippers in Oxford.

SFL were contracted to provide event management including stage and power along with complete technical production comprising of sound and lighting. Production Manager Andy Barr undertook the task in hand and pulled together all the elements. This involved meeting the event leadership team to ensure we had everything covered making the event go smoothly on the day. SFL contracted in Star Events to install a mobile outdoor stage. Due to the required location of the stage a road closure was put into place and traffic had to be diverted around the city. This included making sure the local police, ambulance and fire authorities knew what was happening. The road closure was for set times only so SFL had the strict task of making sure that everything was completed on schedule and to ensure that nothing over ran.

Director Mark Payne designed the sound system utilising our new d&b Q line array. We had to cover an audience size that spanned up to 75m back and this was the perfect system to accomplish this job. There was a drop of 6x Q1's per side and 6x d&b Q-Sub per side. The tops were flown from pa out rigger on the mobile stage and the subs were stacked either side of the stage in a cardioid sub array to help minimise the sound going behind the stage. SFL also used Q7 as front fills to cover the people out of the line of the array. Mark Young was the system tech on the day to look after the speaker system. This helped sound engineer Mark Payne concentrate on the mix. Mark Young used the d&b computer controlled system, Rope C, to monitor the D12 & Epac levels and temperatures.

On top of the sound SFL also provided 36k of par cans and 6 profile spots to light the stage. The event was held during the afternoon so the lighting was purely used to highlight the action on the stage. The event ran extremely smoothly and the weather stayed rain free.
