The 2006 Baptist Assembly saw SFL provide the technical solution for the eighth consecutive year. The three-day event was held in the 4000 capacity Brighton Centre and as in previous years has very diverse requirements, from a single presenter on the stage, up to a full 'rock' band.
The sound system was driven from a 48 channel Yamaha PM5D digital console, which has become the desk of choice for SFL engineers, mainly due to its flexibility, on board processing power and ease of use. In addition to the main speaker system, front fills, rear fills and side fills, the desk also had to provide dedicated audio feeds for recording, hearing aid loop and sound for the TV monitors around the venue.
The video system utilized a Soft edge blended (Diventex) widescreen solution with two Barco G8 projectors and a 31' x 12' main screen. Using a variety of different presets on the Show Control PC the image on the screen was able to display a number of different PIP's (Picture in Picture) from various sources including live camera and DVD to Graphics and Presentations from PC's.
The lighting was designed to have maximum flexibility for different stage uses (and the use of three stages!) and incorporated the use of more than 100 generic fixtures plus a number of moving heads. The pictures show some of the various 'looks' that were achieved.
In addition to the main venue this year saw the launch a new exciting alternative venue called Prism. SFL provided the total production solution for this venue also, with sound, video lighting and set appropriate for the smaller venue.
