SFL were asked to provide complete sound solution for the 'Concert in the Park' in July 2005 - an annual event hosted by the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill, in Southend's Priory Park. These concerts typically attract in excess of 6,000 people, and are regarded by Southend Council as the most prestigious outdoor event 2nd only to the Annual Air Show.
Each year a substantial amount of the profit, made by the event itself, is donated to a charitable cause. To mark the 10th year of 'Concert in the Park' it was run over two evenings - an extravaganza of musical fundraising.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performed on the Saturday, for an evening of music devoted to the classics. For the second evening of music, Shawaddywaddy headlined, with the Merseybeats and the Foundations as support, all performing hits from the sixties and seventies.
The Sound system comprised of d&b's Q1 line array, with Q7 as front fill, all of which were run using D12 amps & flown from SFL's Ground support system.
This was the system of choice for the event, taking into consideration the challenges that the park posed. With its awkward Shape and the restriction on using delay towers so as to avoid sightline issues to the stage. |
