SFL provided the Sound for the band 'Legends of Rock' at the Renault Motor Sport Team Celebration this December. The event was to celebrate the team winning the F1 Driver and Championship in 2005. SFL provided a PA system consisting of two stacks of D&B C7 as Front-of-House, combined with an Allen & Heath GL2800 desk. The Monitor rig was 8 HK CT112 mixed from a Yamaha M7CL.
The band 'Legends of Rock' are a corporate tribute band, comprising a 4-piece backing band with a changeable front line, depending on what look-a-like acts a client likes.
This was the first time Colin had used the M7CL 'in anger', and after a short preparation time configuring the desk in our warehouse, Colin was ready for action. Colin especially found the 31 band graphics equaliser on outputs incredibly useful for monitor engineering. This also meant that with only a small space at the side of the stage, not having lots of outboard racks allowed for a very neat and tidy area - ideal for corporate events.
Colin had a lot of fun with this new desk; 'It's a great and highly versatile desk which is easy to use once you get your head round hitting the Select Key on a channel before changing anything. I liked having the Aux Pots on faders for each mix, and by putting the desk into 'mix on fader' mode I could see straight away what was going to each mix. By doing this after the initial instrument sound check, I could quickly and efficiently set up the bands monitor mixes.'
